Many teams saw their hopes of making it to the World Cup fail as some notable teams such as the likes of Sweden, Italy, Nigeria and Chile all fail to make it to the prestigious tournament. Many teams were left frustrated and many football fans were left extremely disappointed over their team not being able to reach the World Cup.
The World Cup that will be without four time Champions Italy
The four-time World Cup champions and the current champions of Europe are one of the most powerful national teams as they boast the likes of Marco Verratti, Andrea Belotti, Jorginho, Lorenzo Insigne and many others and yet they fell short against minnows North Macedonia. This will be the second time in a row that the Azzuri will not compete in the World Cup.
The Azzuri’s last participation of the European team in the World Cup was in Brazil 2014, where they ended up being knocked out of the tournament in group stage which is the same fate that they suffered in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
