The five teams that have flopped in the World Cup

    1. Brazil – Brazil 1950, the home team fell at the final

Selections

Although Brazil played very well throughout most of the 1950 World Cup by defeating Spain 6-1, beating Sweden 7-1 and beating Mexico 4-0 their 1950 World Cup campaign was one of the most disappointing displays by Brazil.

Considering the results they got against Mexico, Spain and Sweden anyone would consider Brazil as favorites to win the World Cup. Brazil even had top scorer of the tournament in Ademir who notched up an outstanding 8 goals in 7 matches.

They had even built football’s biggest stadium in Rio de Janeiro which is the Maracana with a capacity of 78,838. The whole world had hope in Brazil and even the local people were celebrating even before the final against Uruguay, but their hopes were faltered by Uruguay’s goalscorers Schiaffino and Ghiggia who managed to silence Brazil’s hopes of winning a World Cup in their new stadium.
