Morocco & Canada are underdogs in this tournament
Group F features Belgium, Canada, Croatia and Morocco. Belgium is placed in 2nd, Canada is placed in 41st, Morocco is placed in 22nd and Croatia in 12th. This will be Canada’s 2nd appearance in the World Cup which is the least out of anyone in their group. The opening matches of this group are Morocco vs Croatia and Belgium vs Canada. This may not be considered the most difficult group but it certainly is a challenging one. Although Belgium and Croatia are expected to progress to the Round of 16 Morocco and Canada will not go down without a fight. This is the World Cup and there is always one group that shocks football fans and this may just be that group.
A promising Canada squad
Although Canada does not have much World Cup experience they will definitely entertain their fans. This is one of the best Canadian team their fans has ever seen by far. Canada boasts Hoillet, David, Larin, Buchanan and world-class left back Alphonse Davies. To add to Canada making the World Cup they topped their World Cup group overcoming Mexico and USA. The Canadians won 8 matches, drew 4 and lost 2 whilst scoring 23 and conceding 7. In that qualifying round they beat Mexico and the USA. This Canadian squad has lots of talent and is exciting to watch. They have two friendlies against Bahrain and Japan and will hope to go into the World Cup in the best possible form. What Canada has achieved in the last two years is beyond anything that they would expect and they should definitely be proud of themselves.
Morocco hoping to get something out of the WC
The Moroccans will try to emulate their success of making it to the knockout rounds in 1986. They beat Congo by 5 goals to 2 goals in the qualifying round. Morocco’s squad has a list of talented players in Hakimi, Ziyech, Munir, En Nesyri and many others. This is Morocco’s second consecutive World Cup and they will try to make an impact and better their performance from what they achieved in Russia. This Morocco team was on the verge of beating Spain if it was not for an injury time goal from Aspas. That match showed that Morocco has what it takes to shock the favorites. They may not be tipped by many to top their group. However they do have much potential to be a dark horse of the World Cup.
WC runner-ups face a competitive group
Croatia shocked the world of football when they made an appearance in last World Cups final. They shocked England in extra time thanks to a goal from Mandzukic. They may have lost to France but the fact that they scored two goals is unforgettable. Not to forget Luka Modric had an unforgettable tournament winning the Golden Ball and then eventually the Ballondor. Croatia may not be one of the favorites but just like Senegal, Denmark or Morocco they have the potential to go far. The topped their qualifying group by winning 7, drawing 2 and losing 1. Croatia has many talented players like Modric, Perisic, Brozovic and many others and having players like these always gives them an edge. This will be Modric’s last World Cup due to the fact that he is 37 and he will hope to bow out in the best possible way.
Will this Golden Generation finally deliver
Belgium will be making their third appearance in the World Cup this winter. Belgium made it to the semi-finals last year but were knocked out by France in extra time. They may not be a strong favorite but they definitely have potential to win the World Cup this summer. This Belgium squad boasts De Bruyne, Lukaku, Hazard, Carrasco and many others. Belgium remained unbeaten in their qualifying group in a group that included Wales as their main competitors. Their performance in the Nations League was not the best and was below par for a team of their caliber. Belgium did lose their last game against Netherlands before the World Cup.
