AC Milan manage to get a narrow win on aggregate over Spurs

Spurs endure another trophyless season

Tottenham and AC Milan faced off for the second leg which was a game with many chances but no goals. AC Milan managed to get revenge from 12 years ago when Tottenham had knocked them out. Harry Kane had a chance to give Spurs the lead but his strike was saved by Maignan. Another chance came from Hojberg in the second half which was the first real test Maignan faced. The best chance for Spurs came in injury time where Harry Kane connected well with a freekick from Son but headed wide. Tottenham fail to reach the quarterfinals yet again meaning it is another disappointment for them. It also means it is also another trophyless season for them. This victory however for Milan means they reach their first quarterfinal in eleven years.

Will Spurs secure Champions League football next year of will they drop

Spurs will have to turn their attention back to the premier league when they face Nottingham Forest. They will at least try to reach a top four position so they could go further in the Champions League. However they face fierce competition from Liverpool and Newcastle  but will hope to hold them off and reach the Champions League for next season. Tottenham have twelve more games to go and will be hoping to end their season in the best way possible. Their game away from home at Anfield will have a lot to say on how they finish the season. Regardless of where they finish they are guaranteed to play European football next season. They may need to play in the Europa League or the Conference League to stand a better chance of winning a trophy.

Much needed boost for Milan

This was a big win for Milan and not only because they reached their first quarterfinal in eleven years. AC Milan who are currently fifth in the Serie A needed a boost to save their season. Spurs who were having a better season entered this clash as favorites. Whereas Milan had gone five games without a win losing three of those games consecutively. In those five games they conceded a staggering 14 goals. Even if they go out in the quarterfinals they will be able to pat themselves on the back for achieving that. Milan will turn their attention to the Serie A with a game against Salerntina on Monday. They will do their best to finish in a top four position so they can play Champions League football next year.
