A game that could define a season for both teams
Manchester City face the most important game of their season and arguably the most important game in the last few seasons. Will their quest to finally lift the trophy that has always eluded them from football’s greatest teams continue or will it falter. Manchester City have endured disappointment in recent years in the Champions League but will want to get things right this time around. This will also determine if Pep Guardiola’s reign has been a success or a failure.
RB Leipzig will come as the underdogs
Manchester City conceded a 70th minute equalizer to Leipzig which denied them a win. Leipzig are currently having a good season in the bundesliga and the champions league. Leipzig are dreaming of the impossible which is to knockout City at the Etihad. They will hope to take inspiration from their success in the 2019-20 season and go to the semifinals. They have so far netted an incredible 14 goals this champions league season and are joint top scorers in the bundesliga with Dortmund with 49 goals. Manchester City always seems to slip up in the Champions League but they will hope to avoid that this time around. The closest they came to lifting this trophy was in 2021 when they faced Chelsea but were unfortunately defeated 1-0 in the final.
Haaland could be the difference once again
Manchester City will be relying on Haaland’s goal scoring skills to get them past Leipzig. He has scored 28 goals in 26 appearances in the Premier League and looks set to break Salah’s record of 32 goals in a premier league season. Haaland has scored eight goals in eight games against Leipzig and two of those goals came in the dfb pokal final against them. Man City finally have a complete squad and this is the best squad they have ever had and this could finally be their moment. They were unbeaten in their group and they are the favorites for this year’s competition. Both teams go into this clash in great form but being at Etihad Man City will fancy their chances.
