Inter emerge as a underdog
Manchester City and Inter Milan face off against each other for the Champions League trophy in Istanbul on June 10th. The two have a lot at stake for them after having been in phenomenal form this season. Inter will be searching for their fourth champions league by beating City. They also will be aiming to win their first Champions League since 2010. Manchester City on the other hand will be searching for their first ever champions league.
Man City to try right their wrongs in 2021
Manchester City who just secured the FA Cup will be doing everything in their power to secure the treble. They fell short in the 2021 Uefa Champions League final against Chelsea 1-0. A Kai Havertz goal secured Chelsea’s second ever Champions League. They also endured a heartbreaking defeat against Manchester City as they were leading 5-3 but then lost 6-5. This is City’s year to secure it all. They have never been in better form and stand a better chance than they did in 2021. However Guardiola must not over think his tactics like he did in 2021. He benched a number of key players like Aguero, Fernandinho and Rodri. He also played De Bruyne as a striker which is not his natural position. Due to this they did not create enough chances and only had one shot on target. He will aim to right his wrongs this time around.
Inter will not make it easy for City
Inter Milan came back from behind to beat Fiorentina 2-1 to secure the Coppa Italia. A Lautaro Martinez brace secured Inter’s second straight Coppa Italia. Inter played a very defensive style of football on their route to the final. They frustrated FC Porto at the Estadio Dragao as they had multiple chances at the end. They also managed to shut out their great city rivals AC Milan as they beat them 3-0 on aggregate. City are enormous favorites to win their first Champions League as they have more squad depth than Inter. However if there is one thing Inter knows how to do it is produce a defensive master class. They are capable of shutting down any attack and they will most likely do that against City. How City will respond to that will be left to see but Inter wont go down without a fight.
