Panama manage to reach the Gold Cup final
The Gold Cup semi finals round had everything from goals to shocks to heartbreak. Panama pulled of one of the shocks of the tournament to reach their first final in 10 years. On the other hand, Mexico pulled of a comfortable win over Jamaica. Jesus Fereira managed to extend his scoring run but it was not enough to inspire USMNT to the final. Heartbreak for the USA
Without a doubt yesterday’s result will go down in Panamanian football history. Los Canaleros managed to stun USMNT 5-4 on penalty kicks after producing a solid game over 120 minutes. Thanks to a kick from Adalberto Carrasquilla Panama will play their first final since 2013. On the other hand, it is complete heartbreak for the United States as failed to reach the final for the first time since 2015. They will also be disappointed knowing that they did not get to equal Mexico’s record. USMNT were hoping to equal El Tri’s record as the team to have won the Gold Cup the most. After Ferreira equalled Anderon’s goal the USMNT got hope but it was not enough to win them the game.
Mexico coast to easy win in Gold Cup
Mexico managed to pull of a comfortable 3-0 win over Jamaica as they managed to reach their third straight final. They will be hoping to bring the Gold Cup home as they face a confident Panamanian side. Despite the Reggae Boys having their moments where they threatened Mexico’s defense El Tri still managed to get the job done. Alvarado rounded of the scoring in the 90th minute as he slotted the ball in the back of the net. Mexico will now hope to go on and win the Gold Cup for the ninth time in their history.
