The Gold Cup is set to return to action tomorrow with two blockbuster semi-final clashes. United States take on Panama whilst the Reggae Boys take on Mexico in the Gold Cup. There will be a lot at stake for all the teams as the tournament reaches it’s conclusion. Arguably the tie of the round will be Jamaica vs Mexico as it is the most evenly matched tie. Panama on the other hand will be hoping to pull the rabbit put pf the hat as they take on a free-scoring USA.

Panama hoping to stun USA in the Gold Cup

Los Canaleros will be in the Gold Cup semi finals for the first time since 2015. They may be massive underdogs but they will have a point to prove against USA as they will try to go all out and reach the final. The last time Panama defeated the USA at home was all the way back in the 2011 Gold Cup. Los Canaleros recorded a 2-1 victory over USA in the group stage which was a major upset in the Gold Cup. Now 12 years later they want to repeat a similar upset. Panama will be even more motivated considering they lost four straight games to the USA. United States on the other hand are scoring goals for fun at the moment. The Stars and Stripes have managed to net 15 goals in four games alone.

Reggae Boys take on El Tri

The Reggae Boys may have better stats going into this clash however this is a tournament that favors Mexico heavily. Jamaica have scored eleven and conceded only two whereas Mexico have scored nine and only conceded two. Last time Jamaica stunned Mexico was in the Gold Cup semi-finals. The head to head record between the two nations even favors Mexico as they have seven wins compared to Jamaica’s two and they share four draws. However this fixture has become more competitive in recent games with the last two games between the two ending in a draw. Despite Mexico entering as slight favorites you can never rule out the Reggae Boys in the Gold Cup.
