Philippines lose their World Cup opener
World Cup debutants Philippines have a mountain to climb if they are to progress from their group. The Asian minnows were completely outclassed. Philippines qualified for the World Cup by coming in fourth place in the AFC Asian Womens Cup. Thanks to a win on penalties against Chinese Taipei the Philippines managed to progress to the semi finals. Despite losing to Switzerland the Philippines still have fixtures against New Zealand and Norway. The hosts New Zealand will be beaming with confidence after beating Norway. On the other hand there other opponent Norway will have no choice but to win as they lost their first match.
The Swiss World Cup campaign off to a great start
Switzerland started their World Cup campaign after getting the all important victory against Philippines. The Swiss managed definitely made it up to their fans after failing to qualify for the last World Cup. The Europeans managed to dominate Asian Minnows on every area of the game. Switzerland will now turn their attention to their games against New Zealand and Norway. Switzerland and New Zealand may just be the game that decides who takes first spot in their group as both teams won their first games. Then they also have to take on Norway who will come fighting for their lives in order to qualify for the group stage.
