Switzerland were absolutely dominated on all fronts against Spain. They had a glimmer of hope as Switzerland equalized through a Spanish own goal. Codina was trying to play the ball back to Cata Coll but her pass was too heavy and ended up in the back of the net. The best chance of the game for Switzerland arrived when Crnogervic lobbed the ball which met Terchoun who’s effort got saved. Other than that one chance the Swiss were very poor against Spain and will want to bounce back as soon as possible.

Spain proved to be just too good for Switzerland as they thrashed yet another team in the world cup. This is Spain’s third game where they have won by three goals or more. Aitana Bonmati scored as she turned around to find space and struck it beautifully to make it 1-0. Despite an embarrassing moment from Codina Alba Redondo regained La Roja’s lead in the 17th minute. Spain put the game beyond Switzerland and by the second half the Swiss had no response. Spain will now go on to face Holland who they will be favorites as they cannot stop scoring right now.
