Chelsea draw against Liverpool
Chelsea faced off against Liverpool in the premier league. What better way for the premier league to resume than to have these two giants face off against each other in the league opener. The two played out to a 1-1 draw as both team begin the season dropping two points. It was the result either team was looking for as they were both looking for a win. Disasi gets redemption for Chelsea
Chelsea came from behind to deny Liverpool of an opening day win after Disasi equalized after meeting Chillwell’s header to slot it home. It was also Pochettino’s first game in the premier league since leaving Spurs in 2019. To the relief of Chelsea Liverpool had a goal ruled out after Salah was in an offside position. Chillwell also managed to score after rounding Alisson but his joy was short-lived as VAR ruled it out for offside. Enzo Fernandez played the ball into Chillwell who forced a save from Alisson. Chelsea will have a chance to register their first victory against the Hammers when they face off on August 20th
Diaz strike not enough for Liverpool
Liverpool will be disappointed not to have come away with a victory against Chelsea after taking the lead against the Blues. It was Colombia star Luis Diaz who gave the Reds the lead after meeting a pass from Salah. Salah then slotted the ball into the back of the net but was ruled out by VAR for offside. They then lost their lead against Chelsea as new signing Disasi was left unmarked. Liverpool had a few great chances but was unable to capitalize. The Reds came into this game in much better shape than Chelsea having signed MacAllister and Szoboszlai. Liverpool will want to redeem themselves by winning against Bournemouth who they beat 9-0 last season.
