UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin organized the match at Stožice Stadium in the capital city of Slovenia, Ljubljana, to aid victims of the devastating floods that caused damage to two-thirds of the territory in the country.

Some of the biggest soccer legends including World Cup and UEFA Champions League winners have been invited to play such as Gianluigi Buffon, Andrej Shevchenko, Paolo Maldini, Luis Figo, Zvonimir Boban, Javier Zanetti, Eric Abidal, Predrag Mijatović, Vladimir Šmicer, Nemanja Vidić, David James, Giorgos Karagounis, Mario Mandzukić, Mikael Silvestre and many others.
The invited players will be divided in two teams; one will be led by Fabio Capello and the other by Matjaž Kek (Slovenian national team coach).
