Rayados back Demichelis to win

As pressure mounts heading into the final stretch of the Clausura 2025, Colombian midfielder Nelson Deossa has made it clear: Rayados de Monterrey stand firmly behind Martín Demichelis.

“The team is fully committed to the coach,” said Deossa during a press appearance on Tuesday. “We’re going to finish this tournament strong and in the best way possible.”

Rayados, currently eighth in the Liga MX standings, are fighting for a direct quarterfinal spot, which requires finishing the regular season within the top six. With four matches remaining, Monterrey is just three points behind sixth-place Necaxa, making every upcoming game critical.

Backing the Boss

Deossa, who arrived from Atlético Nacional, emphasized that despite recent setbacks—most notably the Concacaf Champions Cup elimination on March 12—the locker room remains united.

The support comes at a key moment for Demichelis, whose job has been under scrutiny following the club’s early continental exit. A poor finish in the Clausura could jeopardize his future ahead of both the Apertura 2025 and the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup appearance.

Yet the players are standing firm. “This FIFA break gave us time to reflect on what we need to improve. It was also a good moment to recharge with our families and come back stronger,” added Deossa.

Big Names, Big Expectations

Demichelis took over a squad loaded with star power and expectations. The roster includes Spanish defender Sergio Ramos, as well as his compatriots Sergio Canales and Óliver Torres, plus Argentine winger Lucas Ocampos. Monterrey’s board has made a significant financial investment, expecting silverware in return.

Despite the talent on paper, the results haven’t always matched the potential. That’s why these final weeks will be a true test—not just for the coach, but for the entire project.

What’s Next?

After the March international break, Rayados return to action this Saturday as they host Club Tijuana in matchday 13. With the race for playoff positions heating up, a win could propel Monterrey back into the top six and restore some calm within the club.

Monterrey has won the Liga MX title five times in its history. A strong finish would not only silence critics, but also reassert their claim as one of Mexico’s footballing giants.

🔥 Can Demichelis survive the heat and deliver when it matters most? The countdown to the Clausura playoffs is on, and Rayados will need unity, belief, and results—starting this weekend.
