The poster marks Houston as the fifth of the 16 host cities to release its unique World Cup branding. Each of these posters offers a visual representation of the host city’s character, and Houston’s contribution is nothing short of stellar.
Prominently featured is «Orion,» a soccer-playing astronaut skillfully controlling a ball in front of Houston’s iconic skyline. Wearing a captain’s armband symbolizing the city flag and its forward trajectory, the figure embodies Houston’s legacy in space exploration and leadership on and off the field.
“For us, this poster will become an iconic symbol of the event and our city,” said Chris Canetti, President of the FIFA World Cup 26 Houston™ Host Committee. “We are proud of the incredible work done by our local artist, Stephanie Leal, and congratulate her for creating a lasting legacy for our community.”
Leal’s design draws inspiration from her own Houston story. Currently the Digital Marketing and Design Specialist for a local agriculture company, Leal previously led creative efforts for the Houston Dynamo and Dash. A graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in Fine Arts and a minor in Art History, she brings a bold and artistic voice to the project.
“Soccer and art have always been core parts of who I am,” said Leal. “To be able to combine both and represent my hometown on a global stage is truly surreal. I hope this piece inspires others to follow their dreams with the same passion and dedication.”
Leal was selected from a pool of local artists through a poster contest held in late 2024. Her work stood out not only for its design but also for its spirit — one that reflects Houston’s diversity, creativity, and resilience.
“To me, Houston is a place of hustle, heart, and hope,” Leal added. “It’s where my love for fútbol grew. My father brought our family here for a better life, and this city has given me the space to grow into who I am.”
The FIFA World Cup 2026™ will be the largest edition in history, with 48 teams competing across 16 cities in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. The posters — one for each host city — are a colorful celebration of soccer’s global reach and local pride.
