Barcelona came out on top as they narrowly beat La Liga rivals 1-0. The game was filled with action packed tense moments with both teams threatening to make things go their way. This was the fourth time these two sides met this season renewing an intense rivalry that brewed up over the season.
«El Tiburon’s» goal proved to be the difference between the two sides as his goal sent Barcelona to the final of the La Copa del Rey. Thanks to the defeat against Barcelona, Atletico are basically considered out of all competitions this season.

Barcelona take one step closer to a treble winning season as they are now in the driving seat for all three competitions. The Catalan Giants started the game well but Atletico’s defense kept on getting in the way of them getting in the final third. Barcelona broke the deadlock thanks to a beautiful ball from Yamal to Torres who snuck in behind Gimenez to fire past Musso.
Barcelona then towards the end of the match shifted to a more defensive approach in the attempt to see out the match. Overall it was a game where Barca’s midfield dominated once again with Pedri being at the heart of all of it. Pedri being able to control the tempo of the midfield and dictate play proved to be one of the reasons Barcelona is in the final. One of the highlights of the game would be how Yamal continues to dribble, dazzle and always skip past defenders.

The defeat against Barcelona sees Atletico Madrid bow out of yet another title race. With Los Colchoneros being nine points from the top of the league it seems impossible to see them getting back in the race. Atletico had begun the match offering a little bit of attacking threat but after that it was all Barcelona dominance. Sorloth was brought in the game in the attempt to find an equalizer for Los Colchoneros.
Sorloth had thought he got Atletico back in the game after he connected with a brilliant through ball from Alvarez. However it was not meant to be as VAR narrowly deemed it as offside.
Atletico then towards the end starting to commit bodies forward late on in search of an equalizer. However it proved to be too little too late as Barcelona proved to be well organized in defense. Simeone will aim to correct that next season as they have not played with that same consistent intensity throughout the season for 90 minutes.
