hey are also many players who have been nominated for the first time like Gvardiol, Bellingham, Osimhen and many others. As the rivalry intensifies we look at some of the best candidates to take the award home on October 30th in Paris, France.
First we take a look at non other than Lionel Messi of Argentina and Inter Miami. The Argentine is the favorite to win the most prestigious individual award in football being tipped to win by more than 80%. The Argentine would extend his record if he picked up is eight Ballon D’or. Messi completed football by guiding Argentina to victory against France to get his most desired prize.
Messi won his second golden ball which makes him the only player to win the award twice. The Argentine is already lighting it up for Inter Miami as he has netted 11 goals in 11 appearances. He has already guided Inter Miami to their first trophy since being founded as they won the Leagues Cup. With all of this there is no doubt Messi is heavily tipped to pick up yet another Ballon D’or
Haaland would be the second favorite to claim the Ballon D’or after enjoying a magnificent season with Manchester City. The Norwegian guided City to a historic treble last season with the Manchester club finally getting their hands on the Champions League. Not to mention Haaland also shattered the Premeir League goalscoring record netting 36 times. If Haaland was to win the Ballon D’or there would be another winner alongside Modric who picked up the award in 2018. The Norwegian would also be the first in his nation to ever pick up the award.
It would be hard to imagine the 2023 Ballon D’or list without Kylian Mbappe. It would also be the first time that he ever won made the Ballon D’or shortlist. The Frenchman shocked the world by netting a hat-trick in the World Cup final against Argentina which saw him win the Golden Ball. Mbappe also guided PSG their to their 11th title which saw them eclipse Saint Etienne to win the have the most titles in France. Mbappe may not be the favorite to take home the Ballon D’or however he is definitely a strong candidate for the shortlist.
