Mexico will face Panama on March 21 and, if they win, they will play the final, against the United States or Jamaica, in Texas on March 24. Jiménez has a difficult time making his decision after his coach, Marco Silva, revealed this Friday that the striker will be «out for several weeks» due to the hamstring injury he suffered at the end of January against Everton. The attacker, scorer of five goals this season, has missed the last two games, against Burnley and Bournemouth, and is in danger of being dropped from the starting eleven in favor of Rodrigo Muñiz, who scored a double last weekend, or the recently signed Armando Broja.

Jiménez, sixth top scorer in Mexico’s history with 33 goals, was in his last national team call-up in November, for the quarterfinals of the Nations League in which Mexico beat Honduras.
